True blue is close to the rarest thing a flower can be, and most garden blue is really violet caught at the right angle. 149 plants here answer to it, fewer than any color but green. Blue also recedes harder than anything else: a single blue plant at twenty feet simply disappears, so it has to be planted in mass before it registers at all. Planted that way it does two things nothing else does. It cools a hot scheme on contact, and it makes orange and yellow look twice as bright, sitting opposite them.
